On Thursday, 9 January 2025, the election of the Dean of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ) at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague took place. The Academic Senate of FTZ elected a new dean in the first round of secret voting for the term 2025–2029. The newly elected dean is the current Vice-Dean for Science and Research, doc. Ing. Hynek Roubík, Ph.D.
He will assume the leadership of the faculty on 25 April 2025, succeeding the current dean, prof. dr. ir. Patrick Van Damme, whose term concludes on the same day.

Doc. Lukáš Trakal from the Department of Geoenvironmental Sciences of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences CZU Prague received the prestigious Czech Head Award - Minister of the Environment Award on November 24th, 2024, at a ceremony broadcast live on Czech Television. The awards are awarded annually by the Czech Head PROJECT Institute, which helps scientists and researchers build public awareness of their contribution to society and popularize domestic science.
On the eve of the 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, on Saturday, 16th November, 2024, the Josef Hlávka Awards were presented at the castle in Lužany near Přeštice. They are awarded annually by the Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávka Endowment, the oldest Czech foundation founded by Dr. Josef Hlávka in 1904. The award is intended for talented students and graduates of Prague public universities and the Brno Technical University who have demonstrated exceptional abilities and creative thinking in their field, and for talented scientists of the Academy of Sciences under the age of 33.
